"The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel

"The Case for Christ" is Lee Strobel's personal account of the critical examination of Christianity and the Biblical scriptures. Strobel, a journalist and legal editor for the Chicago Tribune, and an atheist, began his research of Jesus Christ after seeing the dramatic changes in his wife's life, attitude, and behavior after she became a Christian.

Strobel leaves no stone unturned, analyzing historical, archeological, scientific, literary, and psychological evidence for the accuracy of the Biblical scriptures and the story of Jesus Christ. After traveling the world, pouring through translations and extra-Biblical sources, interviewing countless highly-credentialed scholars, and reading the Biblical scriptures with a discerning critical eye, Strobel was left with overwhelming evidence for and no credible evidence against both the reliability of the Bible and the truth of the story of Jesus. Strobel then became a Christian, and now uses his analytical/journalistic training to present his story of converting from atheism, making the case for Christ.

If anyone would like a copy of this book but doesn't have the means to purchase it, I would be glad to purchase a copy for you and send it to you. PM me for details.

It seems Christians LOVE being stupid. It's like they try to find any excuse to keep their heads buried in a hole. Strobel was a freakin' alcoholic that turned to Jesus because he couldn't control himself. It's really that simple. He's a typical AA recovering addict. Nothing more, nothing less. He has NO evidence and I call bullshit on him even being an ex-Atheist. His description of his past Atheist experience are what Christians believe Atheists are all about, not what an Atheist actually believes. He's a fucking liar who's goal is FAR from spreading "the truth." His "accounts" and "evidence" are so full of holes it's not even funny. Only a moron would believe his garbage, which would explain his strong Christian following.

Let me give you an example. Strobel's "proof" of Jesus' resurrection is that when Jesus was buried in the tomb, a large boulder was placed in front of the entrance enclosing the tomb. 7 days later the boulder was moved and Jesus' body was gone. He proclaimed, "how could this be? It would take 20 men to move a boulder of that size. How could this happens if not by Jesus rising from the dead?" My answer, "hey fucking moron, how do you think the boulder was rolled over the entrance in the first place?" Just stupid shit like that all through his little sermons. In the beginning of his little act he likes to say he has undeniable proof of God. However in the end, ANY freakin' moron can figure out the guy has provided not ONE single shred of proof, and it's the same 'ol tired Christian smoke screens. I just wanted to punch that guy in the face for insulting my intelligence with his bullshit story and "proof." By the way, his book is the same 'ol shit. :|

Read it after a religious guy recommended it to me. I was answering his "proofs" as i was reading. He doesn't interview moderate/liberal scholars and only christian fundamentalist ones.
Read The God Delusion that book , while it does have inaccuracies, is a very good book.

Thick skin: you need it. why so sensitive?

Like I said, it's possible you didn't intend it, but you've been a member here longer than I. It should be quite clear to anyone who has been here that long that this kind of thread does nothing but attract trolls. Maybe you weren't trolling, intentionally, but if you've seen the type of religion threads that I've seen on here, I can't imagine how you wouldn't know that this could be nothing more than a troll haven.

Ever read Digg comments? I'd rather be behind and have an interesting conversation with AT users than try to make my way through the dense stupidity of Digg.

Besides, Digg is always 24-36 hours behind 4chan.
Sounds like mjuszczak should have made ST4C instead of STAT.

"Notify when 'pedobear' or 'underage' or 'goatse' are posted."

5 minutes later, my webserver would melt.

An investigation would reveal that it was in fact a suicide.

I can see why one might think it was trolling, but trust me its not. It was something that I knew to be controversial but posted anyway because i thought it was funny.

Religious folks have no sense of humor. Jokes about their beliefs are met with the same shouts of "TROLL!!" as those who state the facts about their beliefs. Any differing opinion whether humorous or serious makes your a troll in their eyes.

Rising dead, mythical places, magic, the return. ...yeah I'm the one making bold proclamations.

Saying Christians are gullible and stupid is doing nothing more than stating the truth. If it's just a just simple truthful statement, then it's not a troll.

www.godisimaginary.com lays out just how farcical all the major religions are.

Also: I could care less how people have misunderstood the definition of the term trolling, people who think it has to do with being mean (like a troll), are wrong. They may be wrong with 80% agreement, but still wrong.

Also also: Despite the fact that I know I will get a reaction doesn't mean that I have trapped anyone into it. People do tend to get upset when they are A. told they are a stupid retard, and B. when they have their suppositions about reality challenged. Baiting/trolling involves more guile. Ex. Q. You agree with this right? A. Yes. Q. And you agree with this right? A. Yes. Q. And you agree with this right? A. Yes. (hooks) Q. Then how could you possibly think this?!?! A. EXPLOSIVE REACTION or DEFENSIVE REACTION (that causes further trouble).

yo chief. I'm not religious in the slightest. I'm merely pointing out exactly what you're saying: those kind of posts will attract the sensitive religious folks as well as the hyper-zealous atheists to engage in a long-winded pissing contest.
it's inevitable.

don't waste your time on that guy. Anyone who opposes Gag's view of religions / God is automatically the most religious person on the internet. just wait, he'll be back now to remind me how religious I am. he's done it dozens of times.

That was carefully worded for maximum humor and with heightened incredulity. A more accurate and truthful description would be as follows:

CHRISTIANITY
The confidence that a divine spirit, who manifested and proved himself on earth once as a Jewish man who died but didn't stay dead because he was God, is offering eternal life to anyone who repents and mentally accepts his sacrifice on their behalf, and makes him Lord of their life to free you from your sinful nature which all humans have had since the original God-created woman chose to disobey God by eating from a forbidden tree.

Oh and: "The preaching of the cross is, to them that perish, foolishness." -- 1 Corinthians 1:8

Nope, not the most religious, just the dumbest. Why don't you pray for me to stop reminding you of all the atrocities your religion has committed? If your great cosmic muffin wants me to stop he'll make it happen, if not it must be his will that I cause you so much angst.

wait.

is melty right? you really think that simply because we label the anti-religion posters in these threads as trolls, that we are therefore holier-than-though?

reading comprehension problems? blinded by your zealousness? Do any small amount of research on these forums, and you'll find that I'm quite agnostic. just look for an evolution thread. I dare you....

Of course, I probably spend as much time defending some of the religious posters as I do attacking them. You see, it's the nature of the argument, sometimes, that needs to be taken down.
