Put your damn chair and popcorn away, its a joke. Grab a beer and watch the hilarity ensue

Oh, so you did it on purpose with trolling intentions?

You are correct. I dont start shit like you are attempting to do. I posted something i thought was funny and I knew it was controversial. I knew others would follow with similar pics hence the hilarity statement, so get off your high horse and either enjoy the thread or get out if it bothers you.

On what basis are you making this statement?

On the basis that anyone that buys into the Christian mythos is obviously a retarded moron with less critical thinking skills than the average piece of pocket lint.

Being "spiritual" is bad enough, but believing in JHC is just about as "yeah, I'll take two bridges", as anyone can possibly get.

Let's face it, if nobody's parents indoctrinated their children with the fear of eternal damnation or the promise of eternal bliss (i.e. grew up with the idea of Christ as plausible), nobody would be a Christian. The group that thought their god was an alien and arriving with a passing comet, who all committed suicide, were less gullible. Come on! Given the choice of drinking the Koolaid or believe in the Biblical version of JHC, and I would gulp that shit down every single time. I guess I am just incapable of turning that large a section of my brain off.

You seem to think that the reaction I am looking for is one of "gee I never thought of it that way", when in fact my goal here is simply to make the religious, especially Christians, feel stupid for their beliefs. I am not trying to convince anyone of anything.

My entire life is beset with intolerance, and stupidity because I happen to have been born in a country founded on Puritanism. Even the non-religious in this country base 99% of their morality on the Bible, and I have to pay the price every day, so every chance I get to inform the religious of their infinite stupidity, I RELISH.

Oh dear, somebody better tell the people that came to be Christians later in life that they actually don't exist.

You mistake my facepalm. It's simply a reaction to the course this thread is going to take.

I'm not religious in the slightest either, I've just learned that pointing out these things on Anandtech just draws us downwards into an infinite spiral of doom until, fittingly, the god-like moderators appear with their banstick or simply lock the thread.

I'd also disagree that our morality (or any morality) is bible-based.

You know, you may want to read the rest of what I posted because it might make it clear to you how that could be.

How about raise some kids somewhere where Puritanism/Christianity does not infect anyone, nor pervade the entire culture (Do you see any boobies on TV? Are boobies evil or something?), then give them a New Testament and see how long they laugh at it.

Tell me you're a Christian and I will forgive you and understand.

Whether or not you set out to do it, posting the same sort of Christian joke pic is a clear troll thread. As it's been done countless times, that pic is certainly not new on here.

yep. troll thread

see, look just above this post. The trolls are out in force.

Why is it that people who are militantly opposed to religion, especially the most clearly insane one ever invented, trolls?

I have had numerous Christians tell me how dumb I am for not buying into their BS. Why should they not... Golden Ru..., Do unto... LAWL!

Would they happen to mention Hammurabi in these sociology and history classes?

They already do feel stupid. That's why they lash out with such violence when anyone points out the 2000 years of pedophilia, the huge body count racked up by the crusades, the Inquisition, the Salem Witch hunts, the Holocaust and the ongoing ethnic wars in Africa not to mention the science that disproves the fairy tales in the bible, etc etc etc. They're furious at themselves, at the leaders of their church for getting into all these messes, their absentee God for never coming through and for the time they've wasted believing in the garbage. They just have not quite reached the maturity level where they can focus the anger where it belongs. So rather than demanding answers from the pope and the church hierarchy and rather that admitting they were hoodwinked they just get mad at the atheists who refuse to let them forget the facts. So remember, when a Christian screams "Troll!!" at you or me or anyone else that refuses to pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, you've succeeded. They do feel stupid.

I think people mistakenly claim that their morality comes from the bible, but the fact of the matter is the bible's morality is pretty sick and twisted if you don't cherry-pick the stories that support your morality.

The basic concepts of Western morality have existed since before the Greeks and Romans, long before the Bible was ever written and, in my opinion, are simply the codified versions of human nature. I mean, if our morality is derived from the Bible, then why is so much of it similar to morality that existed before the Bible?

Morality is derived from rules that allowed us (humans) to survive best. People who aren't willing to kill, rape, steal, or lie are more likely to be helpful to their tribesmen than those who would do such things. Think about it, if everyone in your tribe was a liar and stole, how would you get anything done?
