Religion is partially about $$$$$$$$$$$$. Sucessful churches will rake in dough so fast and the leaders will be set for life.

Of course, conversative Christianity is guilty of, like you say, getting caught up in building bigger church buildings, and nicer media equipment and building their ministry than they are actually making a difference in the world for Jesus.

Links? Proof? I'm sorry but the whole point of their building their minsitry and getting better cameras and such is to reach more people!

I'm not trying to build a case against all churches, but growing up here in the south where there is literally a church every mile (at least) you can see how we are obviously doing something wrong.

And seriously, have you seen a lot of these televengelists? The vast majority of them have lost the ability to touch the life of the people who need it most. There are literally billions of people who are ready to accept Jesus Christ, but so few of our ministries are effective.

James Dobson did studies on churches, and as a whole church attendance is at a plateau. People move from church to church, but overall no new members.

catholic = christian

christian != catholic

Majority of protestants would disagree with
Catholic = Christian.

I'm just curious, what is the Catholic view of

Protestant = Christian?

Where are you getting that information? Strictly speaking, both protestants and Catholics believe that Christians are those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.

I would say that while most protestants see a lot wrong with Catholic beliefs, they still acknowledge that there will be tons of Christians who are Catholic.

Yes, Christianity is all about making money. You figured it out! Congradulations. People make the most obvious observations here.

Hey wisenheimer, did you read the article? Quote: In fact, Jesus has always been big business in America says Nash. And while the message of the Bible has been constant over the years, today?s Christian messengers are very different from those of days gone by.

So, christianity being a big business is a bad thing. Compared to many wealthy corporations that pay their CEOs and executives more per year than the priests' salaries for life doubled? I just don't see how their affairs are any of our business. Do you suggest that all church administrations and lowly priests be poor and not have any money at all then, reflecting on christianity being big business topic?
I just don't see your argument here.

Of course, the voters in this Country want something for their vote.

Logic, or deductive reasoning, is defined as the application of the general into the specific. For example: the sun has risen and set in a regular predictable pattern approximately 1,642,500,000,000 times in the past, therefore it is logical to assume that it will do so one schedule tomorrow. Of course, some catastrophe might occur and the sun might not rise but, barring that, it is still logicial that it will. Its complement, inductive reasoning, is the application of the specific into the general. For example: the TV news showed a thief last night, who was black, therefore all thieves are black. I used this specific outrageous example (which I don't agree with at all of course) to show not only just how absurd this form of reasoning is, but also that it is the basis of all bigotry and prejudice, in addition to the basis of all sensationalistic journalism, and the reasoning of choice of idiotic internet trolls.

Now... which of these 2 forms of reasoning do you suppose is the basis for the argument in this thread? 🙂

if all people voted then we wouldn't have this discussion
and btw go back to P&N 😉

why do you think i despise the christian right and republican agenda? they slap a sticker on God and sell it to the masses... a personal relationship with God suddenly becomes a public forum.

Was there not an instance when Michael Irvin walked to the front center of a baptist church during the service and dropped a big wad of about $10,000 in Dallas, Texas?

Praise the Lord.

I'm confused, I was under the impression that although the catholic church was very wealthy the catholic preists and nuns had to live very modest lives and live under very modest conditions unlike your ministers and preachers in methodist and baptist religions that are like the Jim and Tammy Bakers of the world that live in wealthy mansions and drive expensive cars.... am I wrong here? Anyone a practicing Catholic that can explain this?

😕

I only know a few Protestant preachers but none of them own mansions or drive expensive cars.
