Probably just means he's a board certified psychologist that is also Christian, and uses methods that go along with the company's beliefs. The use of the term psychologist is governmentally regulated, so he's gotta have a Ph.D or Psy.D from somewhere, at least.

AA and a few other 12-step programs are also based at least somewhat on Christianity and the use of faith in healing. Basically, as someone else mentioned, it probably just entails regular therapy with a faith-based twist.

Now I ask....what the hell is Christian Psychology?

priests/leaders of the church are generally very good counselors.

so don't scoff too much.

Physics for Chistians? Man....there's a class I would take just for the laughs....

They skip the wave generator lab exercise..

I would guess that Christian psychology would be psychology with morals, rather than psychology w/o morals. You have a choice. It's not like someone is holding a gun to your head and saying you have to go to a Christian psychologist.

The question is: Why does this bother you?

Can we go back to making fun of gays? Since we can bash religion, that seems ok too.

I know a many many people who have religions beliefs, and although I don't share all their convictions, I think it remarkably ignorant that this goes on.

I am also calling out the Mods, since it was stated some time ago that gay bashing, religious flame threads, and racism would be prohibited. Seems it's two out of three.

Christians feel that God is actively involved in their lives. That does not mean that they are exempt from the problems that others have, but they see things in a religious framework. They want to be helped by competent people who see the world in the same way.

You don't have to accept people's beliefs, but if you decide to be ignorant about people that are different than you have the good graces to keep it to yourself.

Close minded huh? Mind telling me how exactly? All I said was that I don't understand what this is or the reasoning behind it. Much like Physics for Christians.........it's just silly. Seems to me it's a way for people to prey(pun intended) on people who need help and also happen to be Christian.

BTW, SB, the question you asked was reasonable. I was addressing what the thread had become. Now, you are just being an ass.

You're going a bit over the top aren't you? Speaking of being an ass....look at yourself in the mirror.

Yet antother example of a liberal screaming about free speech and then trying to shout someone down when they exercise it.

Seems to me that a lot of folks on ATOT don't have faith in anything
other than themselves and that's fine because it's their choice.
But as noted earlier I see a lot of bashing of Christians and their beliefs
here lately.

Some would have you believe that if you are a person of faith (whatever
faith it may be) you are a brick short of a full load.

And some have posted in tones that lead me to believe that "Christians"
have caused harm in some way to the posters and would have you believe
that all "Christians" are corrupt and selfserving etc..... but a person can always
pick out a few and damn the whole group for the actions of the few can't they?

I know a fellow who is a "Christian" who has worked in mental hospitals and
substance abuse clinics and also with the dying who is one of these
"Christian psychologists" that is being talked about and he's one of the finest people
you would ever want to meet and his motives are only to help those who have needs.

He's not "preying" on anyone (pun intended). He's just doing what he feels he is
equipped and qualified for and he has good success. He's the kind of fellow that
each of us would like to have around when life deals us the blows that it can and will
from time to time.

Have your "friend" come "online" and "explain" what "christian psychology" is. I'm genuinely curious enough to wonder, but not curious enough to wade through 200302314002332093666.3 google hits. ;)

I don't see what the problem is here. You know before hand what you are getting into, if you need help, and aren't seeking it in a religious means, don't call. At least you are told up front. Many people probably are seeking this kind of help, thus the ad, and if that's what they prefer and/or need, this is the place for them, not everyone. Sometimes people need help coping with life, and sometimes those people happen to be Christian and would like advice or help from someone with similair beliefs. Why the outcry?

If you don't like chicken, don't go to KFC for lunch.
