Geezus Christ.. can we please give it a year or two before we start analyzing Mario Williams over Reggie Bush? He's a ROOKIE! Even some of the most talented rookies have failed miserably in their first season starting, not to mention he's not getting much help from an already porous defensive line.
Bush isn't exactly lighting the world on fire either. Ooooh 1 TD, and it was on special teams. Give me a break with these Bush genuflecters like Chris Mortensen already touting him as the next Walter Payton or Barry Sanders, what has he done to warrant this comparison when all he does is catch passes in the flat 75% of the time?! I still stand by my prediction that LenDale White will be the better RB in the NFL, but that's another thread for another day.
Also, there was more to picking Willaims over Bush then meets the eye. They already have an awesome RB and a pretty good offense that could move the ball, plus they didn't want him holding out (you know, like he had started to do in New Orleans before getting the contract he wanted). And of course, defense WINS Championships, it's cliche but true and the Texans NEEDED someone to rush the QB so their corners weren't always exposed. How were the Texans to know they would lose Dominick Davis for the year either? And even if they did, I'm sure they would've taken Williams for the same reasons I just listed. But I'd like to return to my original point and say again to give them both time to learn and play, then we'll talk about if they made a bad decision or not.
