I would be fine with eliminating the 2 party system. Why should the election come down to a choice of A or B? Unfortunately, it's unlikely to happen anytime soon. That said, under the current system the best thing to prevent cross party BS votes is closed primaries.
What I don't understand is how these people did this? I was a registered (R) in FL and I didn't vote in the primary because I didn't care for any of the candidates and the vote wouldn't have counted anyway. When I heard about the possibility of a revote I wanted to vote for Obama so I decided to switch to (D) so I could vote for Obama. I did that but received a letter saying that I switched too late and would have to wait until after the election. Maybe that's just a FL rule?

What Rush Limbaugh did is not an expression of valid political speech. It goes beyond being distasteful and into the realm of actively subverting the political process/order upon which the First Amendment even has efficacy.
That said, I'm not saying Limbaugh was being seditious either, which would be perfectly okay. His intent was to secure or at least embolden his political interests by encouraging his listeners to lie in the voting process. It isn't even a matter of the voting process being sacred or anything, but that rather that Limbaugh gives affirmation to affecting the political process without in a crucial sense, engaging it.
His stunt is definitive of what Nietzsche called slave morality, and oozes with "ressentiment". It should definitely not be defended, because it has no place whatsoever in public speech. There is nothing defendable from the basis of free speech in Limbaugh's campaign to defraud the free speech of other voters whose free speech as voters depends upon this sort of thing not being acceptable. Defending Limbaugh's "right" to say what he said, and tacitly have the effects it intended to and did have, by dogmatically appealing to a political document that is made meaningless by his stunt shows the poverty of "rights" as a political concept. Those sorts of people negate the very freedom they like to think Limbaugh affirms.

The new Limbaugh line is that Obama is now the dems's weakest candidate. Because he cannot get the basic college non educated Labor vote that Hillary is getting. So its reverse course dittoheads, cross over and vote for Obama so Rush can claim credit for an Obama win already in the bag.
Of course the giant flaw in Limbaugh thinking will occur come November when the GOP discovers the huge group Hillary appealed to goes to Obama because its precisely that group that was the worse injured in the past eight years of GWB.

Agreed. It seems that even the talking heads sometimes forget that they are entertainment, not news.
In particular with Rush, people forget that his whole extended family consists of lawyers and federal judges who for 3+ generations have depended on Republican appointments for their considerable wealth and influence in southeastern Missouri. He doesn't have ideology per se, he's just looking after the family business.
Your ignoring the fact that since political parties are essentially privately run organizations, they can decide their own rules for deciding who their candidates are. If they only want their own members voting in an election, that is there choice. Forcing them to open up to everyone only opens the door to doing that to other organizations.

You guys have no clue of the problems with a muti party system. We have it in India and each party panders to it's own community, play on people's fears, rake up non-issues and end up with a fractured mandate, then string together a coalition which will do absolutely nothing because each party in the coalition will have it's own whims and fancies and threaten to withdraw support. It's horrible and pulls the country behind.

Let me break a few things down for you.
In America each party panders to its own community, plays on people's fears, and rakes up non-issues. In our legislative bodies we end up with fractured mandates that do absolutely nothing because each member of congress has their own whims and fancies. It's horrible.
Not only that, but people in America frequently prefer gridlock to one party running off insanely to implement their agenda. Just because from 2000-2006 involved one party controlling everything doesn't mean that's how it normally is. (and thank god for that. did you see how many horrible things happened in America during that period?)

They're not stupid - just in denial. This is 1000% true unfortunately - just like the '00 election was about sex.
It would be nice to have an election based on real issues but I guess we voters are just too petty - we look forward to the trainwrecks.
I think you all vastly overestimate Rush's power and sphere of influence... as if his head needs to grow bigger.
is it so inconceivable that Hillary might appeal to some conservatives? the Pelbama wing of the party has been calling her a republican all year, and she certainly managed to win over conservatives in NY.
