I always thought of you as reasonably enlightened, but I don't get why you constantly denigrate a huge group of human beings based on your particular stereotype of "conservatives".

Because the least enlightened are the ones that pretend to be the most enlightened, like Moonbat.

I'm sorry you're so woefully misinformed about reality. For one, fact is Dems and Repubs changed parties and reshuffled their bases so that conservatives rallied around Repubs and liberals around Dems during the 1960's and 70's. Two and most importantly, the vote was entirely regional in nature and had no party affiliation one way or another, as Southern and Northern Dems/Repubs voted in entirely opposite directions. These are well known facts of history, so you can muddy the waters with the 1964 Civil Rights Act vote all you want, but your point about this legislation is still almost entirely irrelevant to my point about coded racial messaging. Facts belie your half-baked, conservative-fed non-reality.

Keep your head tucked in the sand. You won't find any facts in there you don't like.

Seriously? The entire white south used to vote Democrat, the entire black south Republican. That completely reversed in the 1960s with the Republicans' conscious 'Southern Strategy' to gain the white Southern conservative vote. The entire white south switched parties to become Republicans, and the entire black South did the opposite:

Do you think that's just a coincidence, or didn't have consequences?

Nixon's campaign manager: "From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats."

So...I guess it's OK to blame Obama for everything except food stamps since that particular subject offends your personal racial sensitivities...despite the majority of recipients being white. Got it.

It's fine to criticize Obama about food stamps and everything else (though silly, since food stamps are one of the most powerful forms of economic stimulus, one of the least likely to end up in special interests' pockets, and feeding hungry people is pretty generally a Good and Christian Thing), but don't call him the "food stamp president" in a speech in South Carolina while talking about getting more 'urban' youths to be janitors and pretend there are no racial undertones to that. "Unemployment insurance president" gets across the same message, and hell, "unemployment president" is even a more effective attack that you can defend by saying you mean unemployment insurance, but that's not used because it doesn't stir the racial pot.

Talk about pure conservative ignorance. When confronted with facts about what really happened between the parties in the 60's and beyond they just put their hands in their ears and ignore it. Pathetic.

It's dishonest. The current economy is what it is because of necessary massive deleveraging by the private sector-

With that in mind, it's obvious that this is a matter of inheritance rather than anything Obama has done. Instead of increasing wages & benefits, people got bigger lines of credit & longer to pay until they couldn't pay- 30 years of it.

We're actually in depression territory whether Righties want to admit it or not, and it's a result of their policies. Free market deregulated finance with zero down no-doc negative amortization ARM's, Heloc's against inflated values, and flimflam MBS tailor made to create speculation & a subsequent crash.

Food Stamps? They're the electronic version of bread lines, that's all.

They use denial as a mechanism to resolve cognitive dissonance because they're afraid to look at themselves and admit that they might be wrong, about anything, ever.

They're always right, and they'll jump through their assholes to prove it to themselves.

I don't get Republicans making fun of Obama's name because is sounds "Mooslim"

Reince Priebus sounds like he was born on the planet Endor.

I could completely care less why the south votes the way they do. You guys are trying to make it sound like everyone in the Congress just got up and switched sides, and that is far from the truth.

It's the absolute truth. The great Strom Thurmond, Klansman and racist extraordinaire (also father of illegitimate half black children) led the other racist Democrats en masse to the Republican ranks for one sole reason: he really hated him some n****rs. Except when he was having sex with them, of course.

"Party reshuffling" doesn't have to mean the literal same Congressmen stood up one day and walked across the aisle. That happened to some degree, but mostly it means that the main policies, voter base, and geographic distribution of each party changed to a huge degree and it's ridiculous to claim that today's Republican party deserves credit for Civil Rights legislation any more than they deserve credit for the Louisiana Purchase. Today's Democrats don't get credit either, but they have inherited the whole "don't base your party around appealing to people afraid of minorities getting a fair shake chipping away at the majority's privilege" thing.

I think he's an intelligent, thoughtful guy who has good insight who gives tough interviews to both sides.

If you had a choice, what commentator would you think as a model of intelligence and impartiality.

Uhh, have you seen his show. He doesn't let his guests talk, he simply shouts at that, and then when they try and speak he interrupts them. The guy is a total hack.

We're arguing semantics here. The end of the day the Democrats have not based their party on outright racism towards minorities. That mantle is held distinctly by the GOP and it will be their undoing going forward as minority populations in this country keep exploding while the white population shrinks.

You are sounding like a broken record.
Actually you're kind of sounding like Bowfinger.
What's your damage now? That's your second random shot at me in this thread alone. What's got you so butt-hurt today? I must have punctured one of your usual dishonest, mindless, and/or purely partisan dung pies, but I'm not sure what it was. How about you stop being such a crybaby, grow a pair, and show the guts to confront me head to head instead of flinging random, childish digs? Either that or STFU and quit acting like such a flaming hack.

"You are demonizing what he said as spew."

Ehh! I guess so, but I should probably ask you what definition of like you chose to use here.

But if I sound like a broken record it could be that your comprehension is broken and I have to repeat myself. I am willing to bet if you asked a thousand intelligent English speakers if calling somebody vile or their words as spew is demonization, that almost all would concur. You are entitled to your altered reality opinion of things but your opinion does not change the real world. There is no possibility of communication if you refuse to be honest.

Well luckily the majority of the population doesn't believe that rhetoric.

I'm sure that's what you wish to be true. I doubt you can cite anything factual to support that feeling, however. Republicans have substantially less support from blacks and Hispanics than it does from whites, and especially older white males. That's not proof that the GOP is widely regarded as significantly racist, but it's certainly a good clue.
