Looks like Chris wants to bring back To Catch a Predator via Kickstarter. The project is going to be called "Hansen vs. Predator.

Let us hope he catches someone that contributes to the kickstarter. Because that would be hilarious in a "What were you thinking?!" way.

How many of those shows actually resulted in a conviction?

Probably most if not all, since the evidence was damming as hell. How can these people deny what their intentions where when every email, phone call, online chat, were recorded plus they made the trip to the (they thought) kid's homes.

EDIT:, I stand corrected, from the OP's link, "Although the show drew criticism over its methods and results (a significant number of people snared in the show’s "stings" were released without being charged or had their charges dropped), the show became part of the cultural zeitgeist of the late 2000s."

If you go looking for problems, you will find them.

I wonder how many of these guys would take those actions if there was no lure to begin with.

Good question, I would say most of them would though as they were clearly trolling chat rooms looking to hook up. What I don't understand is why the charges were dropped on a "significant number" of people when it appeared they had them dead to rights.

Chris Hanson has been logging every single IP that viewed the Russian school girl twerk video. Now, can we all just have a seat over there ??

Very few. I saw a vid from another dude who actually looked into it. Most of the time it was considered entrapment. The majority of guys got off or had the charges reduced down to some piddly bullshit. Slap on the wrist.

Did you notice that Hansen himself never followed up on any of those guys?

The show was over, he no longer cares/no ratings.

😎

It's the typical "pretend there is a problem" to make money........once the camera's stop rolling, no one really gives a shit.

Anyone with common sense can see it was entrapment from the get go.......but ask your average American and they will tell you the world is full of "predators".

Even if most of these guys didn't serve much time they still had their lives ruined/altered. How do you explain to your boss or wife that it was all a misunderstanding? lol

They had a rabbi and he was fired. The same for a firefighter, and teacher. Some of these guys had long extensive criminal records.

This guy is f*ckin creepy. I don't know how anyone could defend this guy.

LOL, yea, that dude gets 10/10 on the creep-o-meter.

15k of 75, so far. This guy is no better than the people he investigates, the difference is he preys on the gullibility and bloodlust of the public.

Turns out the conviction rate is very low as the evidence was not properly documented and/or the suspects were communicating with the fake "victim" from outside the counties jurisdiction. Further complicating matters was the suicide of Louis Conradt a 56-year-old assistant county prosecutor in a Dallas suburb did not show up at the "sting" house but shot himself in the head as police knocked at his door prompting a lawsuit by his sister who claimed a police officer at the scene of the shooting told a “Dateline” producer: “That’ll make good TV.” The case was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.

Even if he didn't get convictions he raised awareness and publicly shamed these guys. I remember one guy showing up multiple times to the sting. Dumb ass.

Well the county prosecutor had pictures of little children on his computer. I'm sorry but I have a hard time feeling bad for this guy. This also includes the men who went to the house of a 14 year old little girl with the sole intention to have sex. Sting operation or not these guys are sick. There were grown men with wives and children. They even had a guy who brought his little boy with him.

That's sick. IMO.
