Chris Cornell or Dave Grohl...

So me and a friend were having a rather spirited debate about which of the above were the better all around musician, all things considered.

I like Dave's ability to do more than sing (drums, guitar), but Cornell has the better voice, and I like the stuff that he's turned out with ToTD, Soundgarden, Audioslave, and even his solo stuff isn't that bad.

Grohl has been just as prolific with the Foo Fighters and Nirvana, and QoTSA if you count that?

I'm going with Cornell. Eh?

EXAMPLES:
Cornell - Like a Stone
Soundgarden - Burden in my Hand
Temple of the Dog - Hunger Strike

Grohl - Everlong
T3h Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench
Dave - Stairway to Heaven (...yes I know. But it's awesome)

cornell by a friggin mile. soundgarden and temple of the dog >>>>>>>>>>>> foo fightetrs (and no, grohl being drummer for nirvana does not help him in this case)

Cornell is a better vocalist. Grohl is a better multi-instrumentalist.

Damn. Listen to Season from the Singles soundtrack.

Now.

And Dave Grohl is hilarious. Although I've heard his live voice is quite terrible. I do love Cornell's singing, but I gotta vote Grohl.

Alright...the answer is Cornell HANDS DOWN!!!!

the man is a hero...soundgarden, temple of the dog, audioslave and his solo stuff...he has excellent music in all of it

I saw Cornell live and it was amazing...first off it was all floor seating with a 250-300 person max with a decent price for tickets ($60) and it was truly amazing

His voice is something that cannot be replicated, the power and emotion puts all others to shame and even his stage presence was awesome.

during be yourself he jumped off the stage and climbed the barrier to hold peoples hands...although he did not hold mine their was a brief moment where his hand did touch mine

but the raw power when he played spoonman was electrifying and the emotion in like a stone (unplugged) basically stopped the crowd

I will be there the next time he comes to my city and I will be there for every one of his albums because he is the absolute best and anyone you compare him to is not worthy to have his name mentioned in the same breath

I saw Cornell live this year, but it was at a much bigger venue. I was probably 50 feel from the stage, and it was...incredible. Spoonman was electric, as you mentioned, and Like A stone hushed the crowd over.

I'll gladly go see him again at any cost. His voice isn't what it used to be, but I can't even describe it. It's just raw emotion in his voice. Watching him sing from that close was amazing.
