Suprised to read that he hanged himself. Goes to show that depression can hit everyone. Rockstars, white collar, blue collar, poor, rich, the elderly, little children, etc

I wonder if he left a note. Soundgarden was a great band. Too soon and sad.

I'm glad I was able to catch him with SG and Audioslave. He dropped this in the middle of his Audioslave set.

confirmed - suicide by hanging
http://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/singer-chris-cornells-death-ruled-a-suicide/ar-BBBgSOR

"The Medical Examiner has completed the autopsy on 52-year-old Chris Cornell, the Soundgarden musician who died last night in Detroit," the agency's statement read. “The cause of death has been determined as suicide by hanging. A full autopsy report has not yet been completed. There is no additional information at this time."

Spokesman Brian Bumbery told the Associated Press that Cornell was found in his hotel room at the MGM Grand Detroit following a tour date at Detroit's Fox Theatre with the reunited Soundgarden, the band he'd fronted for over 30 years.

Mid-week shows are always tough but it couldn't have been that bad.

Man, I will just never understand taking your own life. We all have our burdens to bear, and it seems musicians carry a heavy load - to create some of the amazing music they give us, I almost think it takes a toll on their souls to find it in themselves and put it to paper. The same burden of creating that music for the writer/musician to give to us, the listeners, ends up getting us through the day sometimes. Mr. Cornell, you have indeed shown us how to live. It's a damn shame you were unable to hold onto the greatest gift you had - your own life, and the voice that epitomizes what rock and roll is all about.

I cant believe how callous so many people are about his death. I loved his older stuff. He was an amazing talent. When I heard a few weeks back that they were thinking of another temple of the dog tour I was pretty excited ( I couldnt afford 1000 bucks per ticket the first time around)

We have to protect Eddie Vedder at all costs!

He was taking Ativan, and thinks he may have taken an extra dose by accident according to the phone conversation he had with his spouse.

If I could have spoken to him I would have told him to ask his doctor to get him off that medication as soon as possible and if his doctor says no find another doctor. I took Ativan when I was in a hospital myself. I regretted it soon after and I will never take it again.
