What about big bank managers living in NJ making tens of millions while their banks in NY are getting bailed out? Where is Christie's outrage at them?
hes not outraged because those are his contributors and supporters, along with the police/prison guard unions

The State of New Jersey does not pay them, and therefore it's not a matter of NJ's budget. You might have a more productive conversation with the employers of those exectives.

Indeed. He absolutely did that. I said Christie has pissed people off... He's been cutting budgets everywhere he can, and people get pissed off when that happens.

...and the median pay for Police in NJ is a chunk north of $90K. Not the $250K or half a mill Oblama would have us believe.

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/09/nj_police_salaries_rank_highes.html

that article only addresses average salaries. trust me there are traffic cops in nj making $250,000, they all know how to rip off the taxpayers. these public employees, once they retire continue to pull in $100,000 a year. i dont know of any bank employees that get that, they have to take their chances with their 401k's

How about you show us where a traffic cop in NJ makes $250K, instead of just say so.

******

Starting Salary

The current starting salary for a trooper is $58,748.29 (including uniform allowance). The second-year total compensation jumps to $65,662.39. Top pay for a Trooper I is $97,188.48. Troopers receive yearly increments. All recruits receive $777.78 every two weeks, plus overtime pay. Room and board are also provided while training.

******

•Enrollment in the State Police Retirement System (SPRS) is a condition of employment. Your employee contribution will be 7 1/2 percent of your annual salary. (Note: You will not pay pension contributions on your maintenance allowance, but it will count towards your final compensation for pension purposes.)

•Service Retirement: After 20 years of service as a New Jersey State Trooper, you are eligible to receive a pension, regardless of age, consisting of 50% of your final compensation.

•Special Retirement: After 25 years of service as a New Jersey State Trooper, you are eligible to receive a pension, regardless of age, consisting of 65% of your final compensation plus 1% for each year above 25 years. The maximum benefit that you can receive under a special retirement is 70% of your final compensation.

•Deferred Retirement: Troopers who serve for 10 years and then terminate their employment before qualifying for a service retirement are vested and thereby eligible for a pension benefit at age 55. The benefit is 2% of final compensation for each year of SPRS service.

•Optional Purchase of Former Membership: You can purchase former membership from a New Jersey State administered pension plan (e.g. PERS, TPAF, PFRS) that could increase your retirement benefit. This service cannot be used to qualify for a Special or Service Retirement. However, it can be used to compute your retirement allowance on the basis of 1% of final compensation for each year of such service credit.

Top Salary is $97K: Half of that is $48,500 65% of that is $63,050. 70% of that is $67,900

ive already posted stuff like that here before. in sf cops make about the same salary as they do in nj, but when they work overtime the get double pay. so all the cops figure out all sorts of ways to clock in tons of overtime and presto! at the end of the year you get a couple hundred cops who have made $250,000-$300,000. they post it in the newspapers here every year, so im sure they do the same thing in nj

So (1) You don't have that information. Because if you did, you would gleefully provide it.

(2) By your own admission, you are basing your posts on what you *think* is the case in San Francisco, rather than any knowledge of what Police are really paid in New Jersey.

i have to correct myself. in your article one county had an average cop salary of $134,000, not $120,000. how do you justify going after teachers making $55000 when the average cop makes that kind of money. that means there are probably some teachers making only 40,000, so the average cop is making 3x what that teacher is making?????

In New Jersey, we generally don't expect Teachers to get shot at. Secondly, NJ Teachers are among the highest paid in the Nation.

Now - How do you think it is reasonable for someone who stays in a nice warm classroom all day, and has 3 months off out of the year to get paid the same as someone who has to be available at all hours, alone, in all weather conditions, and risk getting shot at every day??

most cops arent getting shot at every day either and it isnt like public school teachers dont have to deal with the a lot of the same issues (?? *went to private schools here* : b ). most cops around here dont even answer those types of calls, they mostly just sit on streetcorners making money for the state/city giving out traffic tickets

In NJ, they damned well *do* answer those calls. So spare me with your assertions and spew.

Lolwut!?!? You are basing your assertions on the actions of "..as many as a half dozen SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT officers and civilians". In case you hadn't noticed: New Jersey is all the way on the other side of the country from San Francisco.

So Thank You Once Again for your complete failure.

the reason i posted that is because the overtime pay scandal has existed for years around here and it gets reported in the paper every year so there is pressure to have an "investigation". nothing will come of that, it will be forgotten, until next year when they release police pay statistics again.

Dude - What 6 people in San Francisco did has no bearing at all as to the state of police and teacher salaries over three thousand miles away. If YOU have a problem with police and teacher salaries in YOUR state, then you might want to consider taking your talking points to Sacramento rather than Trenton.

Oh, so Christie has been convicted of some type of corruption? Or are you just a blowhard spouting allegations of corruption because of your own cynical partisanship?

You are treading into silly liberal territory.......but there is still hope for you yet.

I guess it takes one to know one, eh? While you and Christie may both be douchebags, it must really gore your ox to know that he is a successful politician who may one day be President, while you're greatest accomplishment in life is whining about him on the internets.

Silly liberals.

NJ profits from the bailouts and taxing bankers bonuses paid for by the rest of us, so they don't say anything about that. But they are outraged that their state government is paying teachers too much.

Over 3000 miles? I must have missed the big one that seperated San Fran from the mainland, moving it 500 miles or so west. This just goes to show you how self-absorbed an asshole I am who should really should get out more.

Really!?!? I could have sworn that your president and his lovely Tax~Dodging assistant from GOLDMAN SACHS did that, rather than the State of NJ. But sadly, it's apparent you Libtards are not only incapable of telling the difference between Federal and State governments, you can't even figure out which state is on what side of the country. So it's obvious you are also completely incapable of figuring out that Federal bailout money given to NEW YORK financial institutions aren't the responsibility of a New Jersey governor and a State's budget.

You guys are pathetic.
