Yeah I've never understood why women do that. There's probably psychology behind it that I can't even comprehend as a man, but to me it seems pretty simple. If somebody does something like that (I don't care if they're drunk or whatever, there's absolutely no excuse) that's it, you're done with them. You don't go crawling back to some asshole who beat you up.
