Nice.

I have a nice Dell Ultrasharp 17" monitor.

But I really really wish I would have sprung for 18.1" or even 19" monitor.

17" just seems too small for the best/native resolution of 1280x1024....which is usually the best/native resolution for 18/19 inch LCD monitors.

I got a dell ultra sharp 18 inch, I would pick up the 17 for my room, but my budget is under 450 bucks.

Are 18" usually 1600x1200 or 1280x1024?

1280x1024 I think. I have a Viewsonic VP171B and I'm VERY happy with it.

I would go for the NEC 1760NX since that also has DVI input and 16 ms response time,I did notice at Newegg they are $449 for white and $455 for black version.

I just got my NEC 1860nx (Black) from Newegg for $479. It arrived friday, and I have no regrets. It cant be much different from the 1760(minus the 1inch). I'm sure you'll love it. And for the other ?, it is 1280x1024.
