What's the deal here? I can't even run Half-Life at 640x480x16bit without getting huge stuttering and overall choppy playback. It wasn't like this with Win98. I have the 3281 drivers for my Radeon. They're beta...but I know taht WinXP has buggy Radeon drivers on disc.

How do I uninstall my vcard, and reinstall?

Thanks,
Paul

Rig is in the sig.

I already tried 3276. What's the latest half life 1.1.08? Still no mix and match:(

Edit: 3276 + 1.1.0.8. Everything was latest...tonight I installed 3281. Going back to 3276 made everything worse. Are you sure you know what you're talking about?

Follow these steps.

1.Format
2.Install Winxp
3.Install latest Via Drivers
4.Install Radeon drivers and any other hardware
5.Install Latest Directx

If you didn't follow these steps you will have problems because VIA=Crap

I swear to god if I buy another VIA crap I'm going to kill myself.

Also make sure Truform is off.

Put this in your half-life autoexec.cfg:

ati_npatch 0

Also in any mods such as Op Force, CS, etc. You can also type it from the console.

I don't have a VIA board, man. I have a K7PRO based on the 751/756 AMD chipset. No VIA south bridge.

Problem is Truform is enabled automatically w/ the newest drivers and half-life. To fix, go to console in game, and type in

ati_npatch 0

it'll fix it right up.

Yes VIA=crap and I wish my vivo se 64ddr even worked with ogl games in xp.. the only one that does is mdk2, and that's it. D3D works fine. That's why I play games in 98 and live my alternate life in xp. If that ati patch deal works for you fine.

When I type in ATI_NPATCH 0, it says invalid command or something like that in the console. Am I doing something wrong?
