I have a pioneer 10x slot load DVD ROM (check sig for rest of system specs) and i am running DVDs with powerDVD software. But for some reason when ever i foward/pause/rewind the movie it throws of the whole lipsync and i end up watching a movie that seems very poorly dubbed (sort of like the old jackie chan movies :p).

Also last nite i was trying to watch LOTR DVD and i tried watching it using both PowerDVD and the the DVD player provided with the movie and each case the play back was choppy.

and Finally the sound for some reason would not play dolby digital sound (i didnt check to see if the movie had dolby digital, just assumed it did).

I think i have a pretty adequate system for DVD playback so i really cant understand whats scewing things up (i have nothing runing in the back groud to hog resources)

I agree.
if that's not your problem then try unchecking enable hardware acceleration in powerdvd configuration under video.

interwin dvd?
pcfriendly perchance?

try removing the offending software ,reboot .then place the dvd in the drive as you hold down the shift key till the dvd light goes out then start power dvd if this works and on mine it always has then ;)

i hope this helps

I forgot how to do it in Win98, but in XP it's Start>Settings>ControlPanel>System>Hardware>DeviceManager>IDE/ATA controller>Primary or Secondary channel properties>AdvancedSettings. I hope this helps.:)
