Chopping wood, making a fire

I moved to an acreage a few months ago, expecting to be out enjoying the great outdoors more often than in town. Well, today I finally did it. I found an axe in the garage, and decided to go out and chop up a tree that had fallen over some time ago.

What a great workout!!
Athough my hands are all torn to hell, I feel great. After I reduced that tree to a big pile of brush and branches, I proceeded to fire it up.
Ah the smell of fire on a warm Nov afternoon. As soon as the flames went down, I went in and grabbed a few beers, just in time to watch the sun set. It was really cool, because I got to see a deer and heard some other animals in the woods....raccoons I assume. I've noticed tracks of both animals all over the back part of the property.

Nothing like watching empty beer cans melt in a hot fire!!

Sounds awesome. :)

I, too, love that "sitting around a campfire, without a care in the world" feeling.

Me too... :(

I've lived in the woods about half my life all together.

Meeee tooo. I don't get to experience it much anymore.

Also, I love chopping up wood, seeing the logs split into small chunks. Then watching them burn. Good fun.

I envy you, Redly. Doing manual labor like that feels good after a week of a deskjob, doesn't it?
