Look at the shadows. Everyone else in the pic has long shadows yet the dog's shadow doesn't go past the owner

That doesn't look like an English Mastiff to me. It looks like a Neopolitan. I believe the largest mastiff ever was something like 373 pounds so this doesn't surprise me.

that pic is a fake, but the dog that is described is real.

C'mon, an animal of the size pictured would weigh a lot more than 282 lbs. Obvious fake.

That makes sense, since the dog doesn't even look like an English Mastiff.
