Choosing the best X1950 pro Manufacturer !!

After the recent topic
I have decided to go with X1950 pro thanks to your help !
But now I'm a little hesitate ,with which manufacturer should I go ?
Sapphire 135$

Hi, Asus are supposed to have a good cooler on their card, so out of those I would pick Asus, however, I bought the Powercolour which has the Accelero X2 cooler, quieter and cooler FTW

Dont know mate, I'm in NZ!, there wasnt only a $30 dollar NZ difference here between sapphire and powercolour

one thing to note ... Sapphire is the only one that charges you an "extra" $15 for *processing* their RMA applications

tack it on as an 'extra' ... if you ever need warranty service

I'll go with Sapphire...I haven't had one single problem with my X1950Pro 512mb AGP yet....runs like a champ.

Out of your choices I'd go with Asus first because of their 3 year warranty & fast RMA turnaround, however they tend to be a bit pricy ... Sapphire takes a comparatively long time to RMA a failed card plus (as we all should know!) plus charges a $15 fee but otherwise makes decent cards. I wouldn't touch HIS again due to their virtually none-existant RMA support though ... when my IceQ3 X1900XTX failed if it wasn't for Newegg taking care of me I would have been up the creek.

Edit: My first choice would be Powercolor because they have very good RMA support & a lifetime warranty, plus their Pro comes standard with an Accelero X2 HS/fan.

Get the asus , cool ,silent OC's to 635 adjustable fan speed great card . I hve had mine for six months paid 165.00 newegg rocks sorry

Seems the best cooler/price ratio.

Assuming you get the rebate offered on the card it'll only be an additional $10 for the Powercolor over the Asus so you just have to decide if your will to take the chance of getting it ... I don't think the Powercolor is worth an additional $45 & a 3-year warranty is more then enough, so if the rebate isn't factored into the decision I'd go with the Asus.


The Sapphire costs less because it uses the factory HS/fan & as a result will run quite a bit hotter then the other two, however it does have the advantage of being a single-slot card so if space is at a premium in your case it might be worth considering... otherwise it doesn't really stand out in any way.

Regardless of Lifetime Warranty or not, HIS has superior cooler. They are dual-slot, very...cool, very quiet and they push the hot ait outside the case. From HIS website:

The IceQ cooling system draws cool air from inside the case and exhausts warm air outwards. This prevents the fan from recycling warm air to cool the VPU, which increases cooling performance and lower the air temperature inside the case significantly.

I think I like Asus for 164 $ without rebates but Actually even HIS has better cooler , I don't trust them !
Going with power color would be a great deal , Like capatante said it would be 10$ expensive than asus ...
I think I might eventually go with power color !

hmmm after realising that this thread refers to PCI-E models...well I might change my vote to Gigabyte....I've never had one single problem with a Gigabyte video card ever since I started using them and selling them a little over 5 years ago...

Come to think of it, if Gigabyte still made high end AGP cards then I would never have jumped ship to ASUS, BFG or Sapphire for my last couple of purchases....I'll be going back to an all Gigabyte setup in the very near future....as soon as I can compare the 8 series GF's to R600 based hardware.

However the HIS IceQ3 cools, I can tell you with 100% certainty that it doesn't cool as effectively as the factory HS/fan on an X1900XTX. Also as I said, having had the misfortune of attempting to deal with HIS's RMA support I would never buy from them again .. in fairness the first card I purchased from them is still working fine (reference X1900XTX) so they do make decent hardware, but if you do have a problem, all warranty support is provided by the vendor.
