choosing memory

Hello,
I need some help in choosing a memory.
I want 512mb ddr pc2700.

is it true that buying two 256 mb is cheaper and faster than one 512mb?

Thank you.

If you have a motherboard that supports dual channel memory like an nForce based board then you'll want 2x256. In all other cases you'll want a single 512.
