Go with 4-4-4-12 - it is faster, and the price difference is minimal.

I would recommend the RAM I use, but it is up to you and your budget what you are going to choose.

he is using this http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231065

same as I use. More expensive but they use D9GMH IC and are more overclock friendly.

If you don't plan to overclock your memory much beyond DDR2-800 rating then either of what you mentioned would work fine.

Corsair may have a lot of good marketing but their RAM is actually pretty crappy.

How so? I've never had any problems with Corsair RAM. However, I haven't had to deal with their customer support so I don't know how good it is.

I've had good luck with Kingston DDR2 800 ValueRAM. Look for N5 in the part number. 580MHz @ 2.1V/5-5-5-18-2T with 1GB stick, and 602MHz @ 2.1/5-5-5-16-2T with 512MB stick (single-sided).

They change ICs too often. Unless you buy their super expensive kits you never know what IC you'll get. They release a rev1 with Micron and send it to review. Then magically 2 days later have rev1.1 with Promos.

So if you're hunting the bargain overclocking memory then you'll probably need to look somewhere else.
