Choosing a GPU

I recently checked in to building my own gaming pc. Computer hardware is a little overwhelming to me, I've been watching videos, reading reviews and forums but there are so many opinions. I'm tired of reading angry customer reviews of a failure part. Could some of you veterans give me some advice.

Pleas provide us with a little more information. e.g. Why you need a video card. What is your intended use for it. Some system specs. etc.
 
Your best bet is to start a post in the general hardware forum and copy/paste the sticky post from the top of there into your thread. Include all the relevant information it asks you for and you will get some good advice as to what hardware you require
 
AT has some good guides for building a gaming PC and I mostly agree with every part they pick with the exception of their cases (I go cheap, it's just a case, not a show piece). I always advise my customers that it's generally best to go middle-of-the-road when purchasing/building a new computer. High-end is way over-priced for little performance gains (looking at you Intel Extreme CPUs) while low-end will last you less than a year, if that.

The popular gaming build right now is Intel i5 2500k/Z68 motherboard with either a Radeon 6870/6950 or 560ti 448 core. It really depends on your monitor resolution and your preferred eye-candy.
