hi guys

thanks for your response

i had one more thing to ask

about ram

i had ordered 1gb(1*1024ddr) ram

my sys vendor says he will provide(2*512)ddr ram

but had prob with rams on my old pc with (2*256)sd ram

first they worked well after some time i removed them to clean the pc when i put them
back the mob didnt pick them after wrestling it with few hours with them the sys was back but slow i didnt know what to do and continued with them till now i was useing them

i found the same problem with my friends who has two rams some times mob takeing the two rams some times the mob will not boot we have to wrestle with it(shakeing it or pluging in and out)

so i decided to go for single slot 1024ddr ram

whats your opinion pls help me

and there are diffrent types in ram i dont know(DDR DDR2 DDR dual channel)

pls tell me which ram i have to choose and what type(for intel 945g mob)

Well, I just told you.

You need DDR2 memory, and you want two sticks rather than one, so that you can run the memory in dual channel mode for the increased performance it provides.

Dual channel is not a type of memory but the way the memory is accessed by the chipset. Both DDR and DDR2 can be run in single channel or dual channel mode. Dual channel provides increased memory bandwidth which helps the performance a lot with Intel chips.

If you want 1GB of ram, then you need to get 2 512MB sticks of DDR2 for the best performance.

1 1GB stick will work, but you will lose the extra performance of dual channel.

You need DDR2 because that is a requirement for the 945 chipset.

DDR will not work. It will not fit in the board due to having a different number of pins.

As to brands, I recommend Crucial. Viking and Kingston and PNY are some other decent brands. A good brand will give a lifetime warranty like Crucial does.

If you know which board and processor you are using, I can be more specific as to speeds. Most likely you will want to get DDR2 667.
