Wow that brings back memories. Those were great books...just about the only thing I enjoyed reading as a kid.

Just do a search for "hypertext literature" or "hypertext theory" and you can read some pretty interesting stories written for adults using a combination of Internet technology and the same concept of "choose your own adventures."

There's also "interactive fiction", which is the genre of game popularized by Infocom (e.g. "Zork"). There's still a community of folks out there producing games of that ilk. They might even be using reverse-engineered Infocom technology to do it.
