hah anyone remember those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books where every couple pages you would choose what you wanted the character to do next, if you made a good choice your character lives, if you made a bad choice he would face a grim death and the book would end...hah those were great since you had to pay attention then go backwords if you die too early lol :)....anyone remember reading those books?

Yep, I chose life.

Mabey i skipped the page where apparently you choose to be an asshole?
Nope, you just didn't read the right book, it was called "Lighten up Dude." I still have several of these published by TSR in the D&D theme. My son & I still read them together.

Just because you're an adult doesn't mean you have to stop enjoying them. Just do a search for "hypertext literature" or "hypertext theory" and you can read some pretty interesting stories written for adults using a combination of Internet technology and the same concept of "choose your own adventures."

Yeah, I remember. I loved reading those. I usually wrote in the option: "I then tore out all pages following this one and proceeded to burn the book" and selected it

^ hates reading fiction (most of it) ^

hehe, I remember getting some from the library, and they'd have writing all over the pages. Good memories tho.

Ahh, there was a time when I had most of those. Good memories.

I remember the first one in the series was called "Cave of Time".

By the way, what the hell is up with all the unrelated and useless replies to this thread?

Well, it's a thread about books. In order make a valid post about books one would have to read books. Those who don't read books NEF.

I guess it makes them feel better about being semiliterate.

You are lost in a North west passage.

To be lost in a north east passage, go to page 147
To be lost in a south west passage, go to page 52

Page 52, South West Passage:

At the end of the passage is a hundred foot drop into a snake and gator infested swamp. You could go back the way you came but the North West passage is now caved in. This only leaves the North East Passage where a man-eating lion lurks somewhere within.

To continue into the swamp, go to the next page.
To go back and try the North East Passage, go to page 125.

can anyone recommend a good book like this to read to a six year old? My son and I are getting pretty tired of normal books (we have read through probably a couple hundred). These sound like a good choice
