Im new to these forums and new to self build systems (although I do work in the apps development business). Just wanted to get some views or recommendations to go with my new setup....
Im going AMD 64 3500+
Enermax CS-718 case
2 x 250GB SATA drives
1 GB OCZ VX PC4000 Gold memory

Just wanted some advice on the mobo/graphics card combo. I was tempted to go ATI Radeon 8000XL but not sure what the best mobo would be to go with that.

Alternative was to get a DFI Lan Party NF4 board for the OCZ memory (as it needs 3.5ish V)....But I understand you can run a booster and sacrifice a DIMM slot with this memory. Ive read a lot of Forums on SLI and still not convinced that its worth going for yet....

Any views and thoughts gratefully received....

What types of games do you play and how high of settings do you wish to run them at?

BTW: For all this high end stuff you will want to get a high end PSU, I recommend PCP&C.
 
I believe you can set a jumper on the DFI board and change the max voltage on the mem to a whooping 4V.

EDIT: Get a 3200+ if your going with VX.
 
3200+ will be cheaper and if your overclocking will reach and pass 3500+ speeds easility with that memory and a good mobo like the DFI.
 
why would you suggest the 3200+ as a better option with the memory?

If you are overclocking the 3500+ is not worth the extra cash. The 3200+ should reach at least 2.4GHz and many have overclocked to 2.6GHz.
 
cheers guys for the 3200+ info....does that mean that the 3500+ isnt as overclockable? (I see what you mean about the costings though...in the UK theres a £45-£50 price difference between the two chips.)
