Choice of 3 entry level 19inch monitors, which to get?

Hey all, my 5 year old crappy gateway 17inch monitor is almost dead so next week i'm going to pick up a entry level 19 inch monitor from NCIX. This forum has been extremely helpful to me before and hopefully you guys can come through again. My choices are (canadian funds) -

Samsung 955DF for 275 bucks
NEC AS95F for 304
Viewsonic E90F for 304.

No other monitors are being considered, I have not the funds for them. So out of these 3 monitors only what would you get? I have not had to get a monitor in many years so I don't know much about them. I hear good things about samsung, is it worth spending the extra money on one of the other two, and if so which one? Any help would be much appreciated.

I would go with Viewsonic just because I've had very good luck with them in the past. However, I've only used the G and P monitors, not the E-series ones.

I have an NEC AccuSync 90 here in my office (which I presume is very similar to the AccuSync 95F), and it's alright. It's clearly inferior to their higher-end models, but I'd still take it over any 17" monitor.

I haven't used Samsung in a while, but I also hear they're pretty good.

Odds are all three monitors will be of similar quality, so if you're strapped for cash, I'd go with the Samsung. I'd take the Viewsonic over the others at the same price, personally, but that's just because I've had good experiences with them in the past.

I've used the Samsung and the NEC and I definately like the NEC better.

The Samsung seems darker and not as vibrant. It also looks more curved inside and the screen bevels too much when you maximize windows and things.

I'd have to say I'd buy a used 19" of one of those models, or better yet one of the perfect flat (diamondtron or FD trinitron) models used. Either that or buy a 17"lcd when one of the big deals comes around.

there are no big deals for 17 inch lcds. the cheapest is pretty much 500 canadian on a good deal for a 17 inch. Thats 200 more than any of the monitors i specified above. As I said i am ONLY looking at those 3 and I'd appreciate any ideas on which one is the best 🙂

To let you know, NCIX has the Samsung 955DF for even cheaper ($259.95) with their Boxing Week promotions.

NCIX Boxing week specials

With NCIX, if you don't mention or use the Promo links, you won't get the discounted price.

For that price, you can't go wrong with the 955DF.
