Can we all agree to stop getting diet information from Yahoo and Men's Health now?

Because we all know when you're counting calories you reach for the chocolate milk.

Chocolate Milk is fine as long as it has just a tad more calories than regular.

Also, drink SKIM MILK always.

Skim Chocolate Milk is 1000000000% better than 1%, 2% or whole milk for weight loss.

To me...anything with processed sugar in it is the evil when it comes to weight loss...so I would not be recommending this to anyone. I do think a reasonable amount of 1% milk is good for you...but not chocolate. I personally drink skim milk, but I wouldn't argue that it is better for me than 1%...it may be worse.

I need to find some sort of Whey/Casein Hybrid .... The shotgun approach. Although I'm probably doing that with my Whey/Milk smoothies.

Whole milk: 150 cal, 12g sugar, 8g fat

methinks you are incorrect. The 2% is definitely better for weight loss, and the whole is arguable. A few more calories, but 14g less sugar.

I'm not disparaging chocolate milk. I love chocolate milk. But I drink it knowing that its basically milk with sugar mixed in - and is clearly less healthy.

Wait - whole milk is milk with fat mixed in? Don't you mean, whole milk is milk, and skim milk is milk with fat removed? I understand the end result is basically the same, but semantically, there is a difference there.

Can you explain why nutritionally you'd prefer 10 more calories & 14g more sugar than 5g of fat?

Well duh. And Cream is just fattier Milk...

Milk is processed, so it's not like it is "natural" in any case. I consider whole milk to be fatty. Cream to be fattened up milk.

Yes, I'll take sugar instead of drinking in fat where I could get much tastier fat elsewhere.

Milk sugar (lactose) gets broken down into glucose and galactose anyway, so more sugar is just tastier Milk ():).

Chocolate Skim Milk = Good for you and provides you with energy to work out and protein for muscle building. Whole Milk = Deathly Grim Reaper.

PS. I drink Lactaid. You know sugar milk. Where the Lactose has already been processed into glucose for you so you get to taste the sweetness without extra calories.

....yea....so....you're aware that the extra sugar in chocolate milk is from, ya know, the chocolate? Its not just extra milk sugar that happens to be magically chocolate flavored.

Are you the guy that posted in OT that if you drink anything but skim you will die of heart problems in your 50's, and that no one should question you because you did 24 hours of research in college on it?

I won't pretend to be an expert on Lactaid milk, or on the sugar digestive process, however - Lactaid milk still has sugar in it. Look at the nutrition facts. It just includes the enzyme that breaks down lactose that people who are lactose-intolerant lack. Do you think that including the enzyme - that normal people have - is somehow making those calories "free" calories?

Yes. The Fatty Grim Reaper is gonna getcha before you're 50.

And of course, the sugar is from the chocolate mix they put in so it tastes good. Sugar is good. It gives you energy.

Of course, Lactaid has the same sugar as Skim Milk. However, the Lactaid will taste good and the Skim Milk probably won't.

If it's sucrose/fructose, it just keeps on giving after that too! It gives you diabetes and atherosclerosis and obesity and... It's so selfless. It just can't stop giving.

In Lactaid, yes. That's fine. In chocolate milk, no. About half of it is lactose (composed of glucose and galactose), but the other half is delicious sucrose. I mean, taking in sugar if you're aerobically active isn't an issue. However, most people aren't active. And I guarantee exercisers aren't the dominant consumers of chocolate milk :p

Anything is weight-loss food if you don't eat too much of it. I had a weight-loss burger and fries today for lunch. I thought about having a weight-loss candy bar earlier, but I decided not to. Since my total calorie intake will less than what I burn, I'll still be losing weight.

as much fake sugar as a coke.

whole milk would be better than skim chocolate because the fat satiates while all that extra sugar will make you spike and give you that 2:30 feeling.

Allow yourself those extra calories from chocolate milk, just work that much harder to burn it. I will not sacrifice my chocolate milk.
