Capacity and build quality are the biggest differences, with probably a difference in durability at the top end. The low end consumer models are targeted for occasional use, whereas the high dollar models are targeted at caterers, wedding providers, etc. who would use it much more frequently.

Gasp!
A lurker posts!

EDIT: that last one is huge. It can support 24 lbs of chocolate, while the $70 can only support 32oz.

I wanna get one for my girlfriend for when she gets back.. I think it would be cool to setup the dinner table and have it be the center piece, and then use it for dessert..

If I had one of those things, I would be a like a dog. My face would be in the fountain lapping up the liquid chocolate as it poured down the sides. :D

A must-have for any wedding - or chocolate-lover's home, for that matter!

Er, one possible difference is that the one on the bottom is on sale? :p

You can't rent out your SLI game machine for $200-300/4 hours though.

That's what my buddy paid for a chocolate fountain at his wedding.

That 3 grand fountain is targeted at caterers, not a home user.

I've never even heard of a chocolate fountain before.

I'd be pissed if someone got me something stupid like that as a gift. It takes up a lot of space and probably would get used 5 times in a lifetime.
