CHKDSK - Windows 2000

Is there any way to do anything about bad blocks in Windows 2000?
I've somehow developed a lot of them, and a lot of my programs won't load, and a lot of my files are getting corrupt. I've tried running CHKDSK about 80 times (full disk scan overnight), and it doesn't seem to do anything. I never get to see what it says for the results, because it restarts the computer as soon as it's done.
Any ideas other then buying a new HD? (I'm gunna have to do that anyway now, but if i can salvage this one atleast partialy, it would really be nice)

I've had some luck with running scandisk from the Win98 boot floppy. I marks the bad clusters and offers to save the info in them. Worth a try, but sounds like you need a new hard drive.

yeah .. i was thinking the same thing for a while.. but.. my drive is formated to NTFS.. so i don't think that that would work. but i'll give 'er a try and let ya' know

you can read the chkdsk report in the event log.

you could try downloading the shareware norton utilities, or buying it.

did you put a check on the box that says scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors?
