XP Home

1) - when Running Chkdsk from the C Drive Properties, if the ' Automatically fix Errors' is left unchecked, what happens if an Error is detected ?

2) - is there any Chkdsk log file anywhere - like we had Scandisk.log on 98\ME - I know there's a
Summary in the Event Viewer but that only repeats what's on the Blue Screen during the proxcess

Thanks

The error is reported/logged but not repaired.

Nope, just the event viewer.

Thanks Bill

So, if 'Automatically fix...' is checked and an Error is found and fixed then that fact would be recorded in the Event Viewer Summary ?

I know we can use the Command Prompt with Switches - I was just curious about the above as that's the way I usually do it and Event Viewer has never reported any errors found

Yes, the GUI is just a graphical front end for the same tool the command line tool uses.

Thats good ;)
