Last Dec. i bought a compaq presario laptop model 2190..
IT worked great for 8 months then began freezing and failing to but up.
I used system restore disk, did not help,
I reformated and reinstalled winxp home did not help..
I called tech support and the indian tech had me do the same thing, took 4 hrs on phone, did not help
I finally convenced him it was a hardware problem and sent in the laptop, did not help
It came back 5 days later still broke. and repair action listed was ram replaced.
I called tech support and new indian tried to get me to do the 4hr call thing again, I refused
I turned the laptop in for a 2nd time, did not help
It came back 9 days later with fix action of hardrive replaced
It was now also missing the rubber feet, scratch up and now the harddrive wasnt beeing seen .
I called and spoke to a new indian and this time i requested that laptop be picked up at my current address but delivered to my new address. did not help
They sent fedex to my new address so i had to reschedule pick up..
They picked up the laptop.
I checked the case 10 days later and it was delivered to someone else at a apt. # that did not exist.
I called and spoke to a oriental supervisor that said she was the top management and could not give me a full refund. ( I asked her for escalation and after 45 minutes of argueing she finally gave me headquarters #)
I spoke to a senior manager and he said that he could not do anything until the laptop was found..
I told him that was between him and fedex not me.. He said he would call me back on monday, this was friday.. I called him back on wednesday and said thanks for the call, he said he would call me back friday again.. he did and said to go to the office of my apartment and the laptop would be there.. i
it was and the repair listed was display replaced.. but by now the bad taste in my mouth was so bad all i wanted was a refund.. He said that they could only refund around 70% of the original cost.. I guess it cost me 300 bucks to use the computer for 8 months plus the 200 i am lossing on the extented warranty that i purchased..
THis is the short version of the story but in all i have been with out a laptop now for 1.5 months.. got to love compaq/hp.. never again..
