No it won't, it's below it. I'm only running 1 6800GT on the board. It will have enough room.... are you saying a Zalman cooler then?

Ok, the then the Zalman is the way to go. If your current board has mounting holes for the northbridge heatsink then the NB47 is the better of the two since its a bit bigger hence better cooling. If your board lacks the mounting holes the NB32 includes thermal adhesive so no mounting holes are required.

Whichever one is cheaper. If the same price, the NB47j. Note that you'll need patience to install them, though (the little arms can be tricky). The NB47j really isn't much bigger, but is made to fit in tighter spaces with some mobos and the ZM80 coolers, and has slightly better arms for mounting.

But the question was if the A8N has the mounting holes for it. Does it?

Though I don't have proof, I'm willing to bet it does. My old-ish K8N Neo2 has them, I don't see why a lot newer mobos wouldn't.

I have no idea. If it does not, and everything will otherwise fit, see if the thing comes with thermal adhesive.

Well Operandi said the NB32 doesn't require mounting holes. I think I'm just going to go with that, not going to risk anything. I don't need the best thing out there, just a replacement for this god damn fan that makes the loudest noise ever.

Got tired of waiting for a replacement for my failed chipset fan from ASUS so I installed the Zalman Northbridge Cooler ZM-NB47J on my ASUS A8N-SLI motherboard and it does line up with the existing mounting holes (the mounting arms on the ZM-NB47J pivot to line up with a wide variety of mounting holes).

If I'm not mistaken, the layout of my board is identical to yours so you should be golden. The fit is kind of tight against my top ASUS EN6800GT, but it does fit.

Much quieter too.😉

Just note that the heatsink does get hot, make sure you have good cooling in your case before attempting the swap.

There is no attempting to swap. It's a must... before I throw my whole computer out the window. It's making WAY too much noise, ordered the ZM-NB47J, thanks. 😀

Hi, It's the fan. Until you can find another fan punch a hole in the label over the old fan's shaft and put a small drop of 3 in 1 or sewing machine oil in the hole. Will keep it going for a long time. Jim

Some people in this thread seem to be confusing heatsinks and fans. Or are assuming that they are one piece (they are not you could simply unscrew the fan, disconnect it and voila! you have passive cooling. You really didn't have to spend any extra money on part that essentially came with your mobo. Especially considering you are running stock speeds.

Sorry but that?s wrong, heatsinks are either designed to be passively or actively cooled. You can actively cool a passive heatsink but you can't let a heatsink that was designed to active run passive. Those small active heatsinks rely on those fans for air flow, without them they quickly overheat, on a hot chip like the nForce4 you would run into trouble fast.

I have the same MoBo as the OP, so I do know what I'm talking about.

If you just remove the fan and hope that the stock heatsink is fine, you are way-off. The stock heatsink is designed to be actively cooled (i.e. with a fan), and if it doesnt have a fan on it, your chipset will fry.

It can be replaced with a passive one, such as the Zalman ZM-NB47J (which is what i have). As long as your case has some airflow near the chipset, the zalman should be enough.

The other option is to find another active chipset cooler (such as a thermalright or asus replacement), but this seems to me to be adding noise for no reason, since the passive zalman seems to be enough for almost everyone.

I hope that made thing easier to understand.

BtW: The A8N-SLI deluxe does have mounting holes for a chipset cooler such as the NB47J.
