I have a A7V266-E Socket A motherboard sporting an incredible Athlon 2000+. (Yes, I know your jealous!) Anyway, after 3 years or so, the 40mm chipset fan decided it wanted to be an aircraft engine and has since bit the big one. I was able to remove the fan by taking out the incredibly tiny screws, but the fan holder is still in place. I have two questions;

1) How on earth do I remove the plastic fan holder thingy? There are two sort of pins holding it in place. The center of the pins depresses when you push in it, but nothing happens. Am I supposed to turn the pins?

2) In your humble opinion would you think it necessary to pick up a new fan/heatsink for the chipset? If so which? According to PCprobe my CPU is running at 52C and the Motherboard at 27C.

if your motherboard is hovering right around that 27C then it shouldn't be a problem at all I wouldn't worry about any of it at this point.
