Chipset Fan Replacement

Anybody got a suggestion for replacing the cooling fan on the 845PE chipset on my Gigabyte GA-8PE667 Ultra motherboard. There's this annoying buzz/hum that is driving me crazy. I don't want to bother with Gigabyte and was hoping to find something better.

Thanks!

Take your pick.

There are some Zalman heatsinks on the second page there that don't need any fans.

I'm going to be trying some of these lovely things on my NF7 boards, possibly this weekend. The fan on it might be a sleeve bearing thing though, so it might not last too long - and it needs holes drilled for motherboard mounting. But the heatsink it so large that it might work by itself.

How old is the motherboard? Could be the fan just needs a drop of oil. I have done this to an old Epox 8KHA+ a couple of times.

blue zalman, used the gold a half-dozen times they are so nice to replace more noisy fans, blue just looks
like it would work better

Powered options definitely can cool better but with the noise trade off, personally I've had no probems with the passive zalmans even on (non massively) oc'd systems.
