chipset fan is dieng

so i got an msi k8n neo2-f.. chipset fan is dying, can i just pull it out, and will it run, or will i need to replace it? if i need to replace it whats a good one ? i looked at the zalman heatsinks, but they would touch my video card

I think you will need to replace it. I replaced mine not long ago, because it was so noisy. The replacement, a THERMALTAKE EXTREME SPIRIT II has a small heatsink and a small, noiseless fan, and the heatsink gets remarkably warm. So I don't think the mobo will survive long if you don't cool that chipset. The thermaltake is a good choice btw, it does it's work, no noise either, it's roughly 15$ or so though, but can always be removed and reused on a new mobo later on. It's a universal chipset/NB cooler.
