Wow. I drove home for lunch, and passed 3 CHPs pulling people over IN EACH DIRECTION! I only drive like 3 miles each way. So that's a LOT of cops...

I wonder if there's some kind of push for busting speeders or something...

OMG! I forgot all about that! LoL

I'm sooo glad I wasn't driving the Fiero! I'd probably be getting a ticket myself!

Don't forget it's the last day of the quarter too. I'd stay off the roads.

They were doing it on US-50 and I-80 around Sac a couple weeks back. I counted an average of 6 cops/day for a week straight. Most waiting between a particular onramp and offramp or having people pulled over just after it.

Expect the speed of traffic to take a dive for a while, and be amazed as tailgating becomes stupid close and common. (ie: less than 1 car length at 60MPH, for a chain for 10 cars)

Would you like to buy the deed to the London bridge in Palm Springs? The bridge is the centerpiece for this hot desert getaway for many spring breakers. Every brick was painstakingly removed and stransported to the US, and reconstructed. Own this historical landmark today, for only $1000.00, and if you respond within the next 30 mins, I'll throw in the San Francisco bay bridge also for a cool $1500 (valued at umpty gazillion dollars). Payable by paypal, just PM me. Act now for this great saving.

LOL. Exactly what happened here recently. For two weeks or so the highway patrol began intensively patrolling the approximately 34 miles of Interstate I travel to and from work. It was amazing how much traffic slowed down because daily drivers knew they were out in force. Even the big rigs were driving slow because word must have been going around they better watch themselves around there.
Now that things have returned to mostly normal (still a few more than usual), traffic is back at its normal pace. I don't know if they were partrolling to increase drug busts or cut down on speeding or what but they do that sometimes. I guess they move on to another area or something eventually.

Based on your logic, rape, murder, and theft don't exist.

you can see or proof any of those 3. You cannot prove the CHP is meeting quotas.

They're not quotas any more. They're "Guidelines". LoL

I dated the daughter of a San Bernardin Sherriff's Deputy a while back and they'd get written up for not meeting "Performance Guidelines". Pretty funny.

exactly
i know for the OKCPD they have a point system. its not called a quota. officers get varying amounts of points for various offenses they ticket people for and they are judged based on the points they racked up in the month.
but they need to call a spade a spade, its a quota.

It's not a quote because they're not saying: you must write X amount of tickets. They're just saying that "you must write more than the average" amount of tickets.

Edit:
actually, in California they had increased the amount of money that goes to the state a while back. When ticket writing went down, the state deemed that the counties must generate the amount of revenue based on a given year, or make it up in taxes. So tickets or taxes, take your pick.

If quotas don't exist, is the unusually high ticketing just a coincidence? Of course the police department will deny it because maybe they don't call it a "quota". They need funding and what better way to fund their department than issuing mass amounts of tickets?

Which makes it better because they don't have to come up with numbers, and someone's always trying to not be on the bottom regardless of how many tickets get written.

When I was in Orange County last week, we got pulled for doing 80.
He came over and said straight up "I am giving you a ticket for doing 80mph."
