chip in oakleys lens, what can i do?

I bought these oakleys a while ago Lance Armstrong signature series. I recently dropped it on the ground, lens first, and theres a tiny chip in the lens. It's RIGHT in front of my right eye. It is very annoying to wear now.

I heard they do some warranty work, but I don't have a receipt or any proof of purchase. New lenses cost 75 bucks 🙁.

you dropping the glasses won't be covered under warranty...

but yeha, new lenses 70 bucks

Don't listen to the people here saying that's too much money for sunglasses. I own a pair of Oakley Minutes, and it was some of the best money I've ever spent. The lenses completely blow away any other lenses I've ever seen, and they just feel comfortable in the first place. If I ever lose them, I'll go right back and buy another pair. Happily spending the $150 or so

That is how I feel about my Oakleys.

To be honest, I would just consider another pair of Oakleys... you are already going to be spending $75... why not cough up a little more and just buy a new (different?) set.

Agreed. I had some cheap sunglasses before I got my Square Wires.. best move I've made for my eyes yet.

I love oakleys but they scratch too easily. I'm not very nice to my eyewear.

That's why I switched to Smith. Cheaper (slightly) than Oakley and GLASS lenses meaning that short of stepping on them or using a carbide sander to wipe them off you won't damage the lenses. I've used my t-shirt to wipe off salt spray at the beach, after I dropped the shirt and glasses in the wet sand. I've fumbled, dropped, and skidded my Smiths numerous times, and still no scratches.

i was under the imprsesion you could just send them back in for repair/replacement as long as you still had the original reciept and sent in 20 dollars or whatever they've jacked the warrantee fee up to now.

so what happens if i dont have the original receipt? 20bucks is much better than 75.

i bought these with 2 light colored lenses for 170 for biking. the lance armstrong signature on the side makes me stronger 😀

Usually when that happens I just buy new Oakleys. Just last week I purchase the Ruby E-Wire 2.1 I starting a collection of these sunglasses it seems. It's like my 7th pair I need to quit wasting money. lol

No problem. Oakley will repair/replace the specs. They're very good about it.

Give them a call. I had a problem with my zeros and they repaired (sent me a new pair) for 15$.

edit: I had the receipt, but they were 6 years out of warranty. Same difference.

Actually I did a repair on my bro's oakleys b4... the lenses are NOT replaced(for the 20 bux repair)... only the frame. One interesting thing though. If your model is old - they actually replace your lens with a newer frame of the same series 😛

you dont even need the receipt or proof that it was under 1 year since u bought it... step on it some and send it in. they'll charge you either 20 or 30 bux, and try to repair it--though in most cases they just replace the whole thing

i like revos and my kenneth coles . 🙂

had a very nice pair of KC that got stolen 🙁. good thing they were half as cheap as the Oakley. of their entire line i can only find 1 or 2 that are suited for me... though the ones that did fit well 😀

I have worn oakleys before...they are damn nice....but they are not 20 times as nice as me cheap sunglasses while they are 20 times more expensive.

Have you tried calling up some windscreen repair guys?....they can shove one of those huge sucker things on it to seal up the crack...and if it can be repaired then there is no excess charge to pay! 😀

For $40 Oakley did a "refresher" service on my 1.5 year old E-Wire 2.1's which included fixing/tightening the frame and replacing the scratched lens. They are better then new now. Contact Customer Service to request a RMA # and send those babies back. Turnaround time was just over a week.

Am I the only one who clicked into this thread expecting to read about some futuristic new set of shades with a microchip controller, and you were asking what it could do?

I just called and got an RMA number for my frames. My complaint was about the frame itself though. Will they simply throw my old lenses onto a new frame? that would suck.
