Greetings all,

I have an a8n-sli deluxe I bought last February, and the chip fan is making some nasty, nasty sounds. I am getting boot-warnings; It's gonna go soon.

Should I contact ASUS, or just get buy a new fan that will work? If so, are there any recommendations as to what brand I should use?

Thanks,

Rakewell

If the fan is easily replaced without removing the entire heatsink (might just be a few screws on top), then just contact Asus. They usually just mail you a replacement fan.

If you have to replace the entire heatsink anyway (which means you have to remove the mobo from the case) you might as well take advantage of this and replace the HSF with a long finned non-fan heatsink.

I hate fans on chipsets. I replace them with a Zalman heatsink: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118214

They make another version that comes with thermal adhesive, but your mobo should have mounting holes.

Thanks Flying Penquin, I just ordered one. It appears that a8n-sli owners have had this problem quite a bit!

Cheers,
