Considering all the other basic rights they lack, I don't see how this one is especially noteworthy.

Didn't think this happened anymore. I've read articles on folks in China being able to have more than one child, they are just cut-off from certain types of government aid.

Republicans love China. They gave them our jobs and our factories.
Why do you hate Republicans?

Although this topic is a real tragedy, late abortion is a daily occurrence in this country! And yes, you can blame "R" for that too or even better "Boosh".

You are allowed to have a 2nd one if the first one is female in less dense areas.

Either way, lacking a 1:1 male:female ratio is ASKING for social problems, but I am not sure if it is any worse than an overpopulation problem.

Let me know when Obama and the liberal Dem gang take those jobs back. Oh wait Dem's pushed for the NAFTA act and were in favor of "Free Trade" agreements which precipitated the massive movement of jobs to China. In fact those who were vocally against the "Free Trade" acts in the political arena alike Ross Perot and Pat Buchanan were branded as stupid and evil conservatives who hated "brown people".

Then again tell me how this relates to the story of big government in China forcing abortions due to a government policy which strips peoples individual rights?

Regarding your comment about forcing abortions, here is a nice tidbit that you might find out about.

1. A woman, regardless of whether she is married or not, has the right to get an abortion without the father's approval.

2. A man, if he is married, will be DENIED the right to have a vasectomy if his wife disagrees with his decision under most health care plans and at most clinics.

When I went in for a vasectomy, I was told that I HAD to have my wife present to give consent. After a very heated discussion that had a lot of words I'm not proud of, I called my health care company (a major national not-for-profit that's offered in almost if not every state) and had it confirmed. I do NOT have controll over my own body.

Pretty fucked up, eh?

Clinton was the one that signed the trade agreements that started all of the outsourcing.

Not that a Republican wouldn't have done it in his place.

And here I thought Nixon was the one that first opened up China! SHAAZAM!

You can change health care providers and or drop them altogether if you like and fund a procedure out of pocket however costly that maybe be for you as an individual. If you like could also even get a divorce from your wife to go ahead with a procedures if you are that hell bent on it. The options however costly and burdensome are still there for you.

You can't say the same about getting rid of a government and its policy which forced this woman to abort a 8 month old baby against her will and thus ending her baby's life. The 2 are not even remotely the same.

This policy has been in place in the PRC for 32 years. It's not news, unless this is actually the first that the OP has ever heard of it.

The ridiculous hyperbole in this thread Re: The American Left could have been mildly entertaining, if it weren't for the disctinct possibility that the people spewing it actually believed it was true...

Rewrite history much?

NAFTA was written before Bill Clinton became president. It was done during HW. It was ratified by Clinton. More (R) voted for it and pushed for it than (D).

At least try to be factual.

Regardless of your stance on abortion, this is a horrible policy that robs people of their basic human rights.

China is a shithole on the scale of India or Uganda but with nicer pavement.

Whatever happened with punishing nations like all three of those with sanctions for their crimes against their own population?

Oh, i know why, they own the US.
