Chinese Watermelon exploding

It sure seems that way. A few years ago, we were having problems with manhole castings not fitting properly. It got so bad that some cities in the area specified that the castings had to be supplied from a local foundry.

It turns out that the first chinese foundaries took the specified design drawings, and reduced the diminsions by about 2mm to save a little on iron. Then a second chinese foundry took the 1st chinese foundry's drawings, and thought they would save a little money and reduced the dimensions by 2mm. ..... pretty soon the castings supplied by most chinese foundries didn't fit.

Apparently they were using woman inches and not man inches.
