Sod originality at $10k for a SUV like that!

Expect originality at $50k+

Looks like very good buys.

US automakers are in serious trouble when the Chinese finally enter the US auto market. Their cars are solid enough, and definitely a no brainer at $9-$12k

Um, no - they will be eaten ALIVE by our court system for copyright infringement by the established auto makers - the only reason that's not happening in China is because the Chinese goverment does not respect copyright laws.

Finally an suv made for the type of driving that buyers actually use them for.

I think they look alright, and for the price they look twice as nice.

you know American designers can be Chinese too right ?

??

Regardless, I don't think domestic designers or any other for that matter would so BLATANTLY RIP a Maxima like that. If they did, they'd have their ass sued

China is clearly the Super Power and owns the U.S. now

like the horse collar, the wheelbarrow, paper currency, cast iron, the seismograph, matches, and many more.

LOL pwned!

No but seriously, the chinese auto makers have no chance of entering the US market, because they would get sued for copyright infringement. That is probably why you don't see chinese cars in the US today. Its not like the Chinese have just starting making cars....they've been copying designs for years! Like all cheap knockoffs, the chinese car is an excellent buy!

Just more proof that all cars are overpriced here in the U.S.

overpriced in what sense?

Keep in mind, the Chinese corporations are using very cheap labor, cheaper materials and don't have stockholders to satisfy.

Good for them I suppose, play the rules to the max whenever you can. Of course if they try bring to bring that crap outside their own borders, they'll get their butts kicked like a field goal over the Great Wall.

" Honda may sue China rivals
Honda Motor Co, the first Japanese carmaker to open a plant in China, said it may sue nine Chinese automakers for copying the design of its CR-V sport-utility vehicle. Honda, which has sued two Chinese carmakers since November last year, found there are nine other companies that either make or plan to produce models that look like the Honda CR-V, spokeswoman Sachi Ito said today. The cases are the latest in a series of disputes between overseas automakers and local companies accused of copying of designs and logos. Toyota Motor Corp, Asia's largest carmaker, lost a lawsuit against Geely Group Co in November last year over the Chinese company's use of a logo resembling the Japanese carmaker's badge."

Many companies have tried to sue - only to be struck down by Chinese courts - Toyota to be exact. Honda have been at it for two years fighting these companies, and they have yet to get decisions on their cases - even when the evidence totally supports Honda. This alone proves that China does not give a flying sh!t about copyright laws.

thats kind of my point...what is else is new? china has never played by the rules, and probably never will......why should they?

nah, nothing recent because mao knocked them back like 10 centuries and killed all intellectual thought. it'll be interesting to see how the world reacts to the knockoffs. there was an article about knockoffs in business week last month or so ago. anybody for cloned viagra :Q

Not to worry. China is growing so fast they will be outsourcing the production to us for about $4 an hour. Think of the jobs it will create!

Seeing how competition is so cutthroat, there is probably no room in the budget to experiment with original designs.

Payback for 19th century Western imperialism? 😛

Seriously, some of the earliest Korean cars in the US (i.e. Hyundai) were essentially a vehicular form of fecal matter. I'm guessing that if a Chinese automaker entered the North American market, copyright infractions aside, there might be some growing pains for them as well.
