According to my highly accurate testing methods, that snake would be dead in approx 5-7 days from alcohol absorbtion through its skin alone, PLUS count in the fact that a wine cork can pass 1 cubic centimeter of gas at atmospheric pressure a day, and that is the cheapest POS wine cork I can find.
I think it is bullschiet. Either that, or the snake was not in alcohol but water, or the wine was made days prior and Mr. Snake got lucky. Thats it. If it was in there a year, there is no friggin way it could survive. Food wise it could, but the conditions it is in are so damn hostile there is no way it can survive. A roach will die in those conditions, let alone a reptile.
I think it is either someone making up a story, or someone that was the brunt of a mean practical joke.
