An entire fake Apple store in China, selling the latest high-tech goods, is just the latest twist in the growing business of counterfeiting.

A blogger travelling in Kunming in Yunnan province reported the amazing attention to detail in the store, with its sleek design as well as the staff’s electric blue T-shirts with official Apple insignia.

Clever, create what looks to be an official Apple Store and use it to sell crappy counterfeits...

I guess a fake Frys Electronics is the next stage?

See next page for the Ikea rip-off

counterfeiting has always been huge. Hell i remember getting a fake Voltron as a kid. I also remember the fake nintendo that would play both NES and SNES carts. also saw one in a store that would play every console available at the time.

lol china. that whole place is fake, they even carbon copy their people, thats why there is so many and they look alike

From what I've read, they're actually selling authentic Apple products at retail prices. There's just too much demand and not many Apple Stores in China yet, so there's money to be made.

There's a place here in Newnan, GA that's made to look like an Apple store. I have no idea where they get their Apple products from. Probably used / refurbished.

I'm assuming that Apple can't get uppity about them making a store that looks like theirs (physically), but having the employees wear shirts with the Apple logo on it? Even though we think of China as super-evil, don't they still crack down on counterfeiting? China probably likes all the business it gets from Apple.

I doubt the Chinese Government will care to do anything about it. A friend just returned from China and flaunted her new "Coach" purse. She bought it froma street vendor for about $20 USD. They sold her a fake, she KNOWS it's a fake ... the Chinese Government/police kow whats going on (it's all being done in braod daylight) but they rarely do anything about it. Why? It's not intheir best interest to do so. A portion of their booming economy is parasitic ... taking sales from legit manufacturers all over the world by looking the other way on most counterfeiting. If they enforced international trade laws they would be hurting themselves and helping their competitors.

The Chinese want what every other country wants ... a competitive advantage and they are not afraid to "ignore" the fact that they are illegally competing.

I believe the devices are authentic but like other gray market products they aren't covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
