My favorite at those cheap chinese american resturaunts is the sweet & sour chicken. This one place I go to has a dinner combo:
Sweet Sour chicken
Pork fried rice
Hot and Sour Soup
$6.50
WTF does race have to do with the general socio-economic standing of your typical citizen in a country and its influence on the food used in its cooking?Originally posted by: amoeba

I fail to see how socio-economic standings relate to influence on cuisine. I consider the England an economically strong nation yet their food terrible.
There is nothing different between what you said and a statement like " blacks are typically poor so their music sucks".
I also fail to see how I'm a jackass for pointing out the errors of your argument. Your arguments would be much more effective if you stayed away from personal attacks.

blah blah, yea yea ad homium I know. Though calling me a racist, yea, that REALLY supported your argument well.
The best? Gee, funny how they arn't ever regarded as the best. You're one ignorant b1tch. WTF does socio-economic standing of a country have to do with the cuisine? Chinese cuisine is the best (I'm not talking about the american-chinese food of course), the only others that come close in my mind are Italian and French.
The more you can afford, the better ingredients you can use. It's as simple as that.
Thanks for calling me a racist though, I'll be sure to put you both on my xmas card list.

I agree with your ingredient theory. Pray tell, what expensive ingredient can the chinese not afford? What ingredient isn't found in Chinese cooking?
Last time I checked, abalone and sharkfin are quite pricy.

So you're saying food=its ingredients. That's far from true. The method of cooking it, spices, timing, etc, all contribute to how good the food is.
Btw, I did't call you a racist, you're just ignorant.

chinese cuisine is extremely broad and can use either cheap ingredients or pricy ones. besides, ingredients is only part of the food. badly cooked good ingredients still taste like shlt. and just because a certain recipe uses cheap ingredients, it does not mean you can't replace the ingredients with better ones.
since you are obviously completely ignorant of the subject, you should just stfu, troll.

yea, no kidding. there have always been rich chinese. just as with anywhere, there are the rich andthe poor. just go look at some of the stuff that you can get in non fast food chinese .... giant scallops that cost absurd amounts...etc. i've seen some dried ones in shops for hundreds of dollars per pound. then theres always ginseng... thats expensive indeed. good asian seafood of all kinds? crab and lobster don't cost any less. i'm no expert, so i'm sure u can find someone that will tell u more. chinese history is long, and noblemen existed for what? 5000 years? giving chinese cuisine plenty of time to develop. china has only been communist for a few decades, negligble amount of time in the grand scheme of things. not to mention overseas chinese/tawian/hongkong etc were never commies![]()
