Chinatown is awesome.

I recently moved to a new place, which happens to be a 10 minute walk from Chinatown, so I do almost all my shopping there. Everything's so cheap - like having a constant never-ending sale. Back ribs 3.2/lb, boneless, skinless chicken breast 3.5/lb, orange peppers 1.3/lb, vine tomatoes 1.2/lb!

I've been eating tons of veg and good cuts of meat and I spend very modest amounts. I don't think I've ever eaten so healthy.

Get some dim sum.

Cow's stomach, beef ball, shrimp dumplings, barbeque pork bun, custard bun, chicken feet, pig's tail, spare ribs with black bean, pu-er tea. MMmmmmmmm... Sooo good.

You know what else is awesome about Chinatown? The rats. The rats are what really make Chinatown the best. Everyone knows this.

Does it matter? They all look the same.

THEY? You mean there's more than ONE?

No? Travel much?

Pilly's Chinatown is 4 fkn stores, DC's is just a few Americanized Chinese restaurants spread over a few blocks, and Boston's Chinatown is only 2 square blocks.

Go to NYC or LA and you'll know what a REAL Chinatown looks like.

Yeah, but all the stores look the same. The roads look the same. The food looks the same. Everything looks the same. I've been to every Chinatown in the world, and I can say with certainty that they all look the same. Some might be larger, some might be smaller, but in the end, they all look the same. This is a fact, which cannot be denied. It is YOU Geocentricity, who have not traveled. Everyone knows this.

Monterey Park, now that's a Chinatown.

But that would be cool to live in Chinatown, although I wouldn't want the Chinese people to feel like I'm taking over their territory and invading their culture.

Which CT are we talking about here?

Oakland>SF

Gimme Oakland China Town over SF any day. Way less touristy. Food prices are cheaper and people are friendlier.

I havnt been there since I was a kid in the 1970's - fond memories of it - do they still have Bruce Lee posters in every other store?

Bah I'm not a fan of LA's Chinatown. If you want a "Chinese-area" go to Monterey Park/Alhambra/San Gabriel, east of LA on the 10.

SF's Chinatown isn't very touristy if you know where to go. Walk up and down Stockton - there are fewer tourists and more grocery stores, butchers and herb shops.
