All you'd have to do is breach the Yangtze River Damn. That alone would be enough to overwhelm their resources. Talk about liabilites.

All people are primates. Why would it exclude a president?

All primates are not chimps. You fail.

Thanks for the basic lesson in logic, but you have still failed to prove that Bush is a chimp.

to quote mr. kerry: "BRING IT ON..." I think China is all talk for now.

seriously, nobody wants ww3, but you really have to ask the question, "What do the people of Taiwan want?" If they want democracy, then "we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty."

What if california wants independence ?

if we're gonna play who would win remember we are talking a huge nuclear exchange. the winners are the ones who die in the first volley.

we have an ally in india

India would just watch and become the next superpower. Although India has a few scores to settle with China and the US.

God, I have to admit some people are just idiots from some of the post. The talk about if they nuke us and kill 10-15 million, we can nuke and destroy their country. It seems either they are playing too much Command or Conquer or have no sense of destruction and chaos deaths of that magnitude could bring for both countries.

Our main objective is to prevent China from invading Taiwan but at the same time prevent a game of nuclear-tick tack toe.

PRC will never need to militarily invade Taiwan. In a few years they can buy the island. Tawan is already investing in the mainland and building factories and R&D sites. Its only a matter of time that eonomc importance of Taiwan is minimized.

PRC will wait and wait. Whats the rush. Where is Taiwan going? Time is on PRC side.

?If the Americans are determined to interfere [then] we will be determined to respond,?

Maybe if America stopped interfering where they don't belong people wouldn't want to hurt you all the time?

I bet you're glad, wherever you live that the US stood against the Nazis and the USSR so that you're able to post freely on the net, on a pc developed in a capitalist society.

MORON.

Cool! we lose 200 million, they lose 800. We win!
Uh, more like we lose perhaps 10 or 15 million, quite possibly significantly less especially if our ABM system works at all, and they lose all 1.4 billion people unless we are feeling generous and spare a few.

We would lose all the liberals and the country would go to the conservatives. We'd also lose our economic centers.

My wife is from Taiwan and she recently posed the question to me as we were driving somewhere over the weekend discussing world events, "How come America is always getting in other people's business? Why don't they leave people alone?" I responded with a question of my own, "Ok, what about if China decides to invade Taiwan? Do you want America to go away then?" Of course. . .I won that argument.

I'd pack them a nice lunch. 😛

Its all bark and no bite. Both our economies would be absolutely crippled if we were to go to war. A pair of jeans would suddenly cost $200 and many of the industries that literally don't exist in our country anymore would have to be rebuilt to make up for the losses.

They could do this in another 15 years or so...when they've attached themselves to Russia's economy and are less dependent on our consumers. Thats when this will be more of a problem.

I seriously doubt Earth will withstand carpet bombing with nukes required to destroy entire China. Plus it's too close to Russia, which will probably in response launch whatever they have at the US...
