The Chinese have also developed a secure microprocessor that, unlike US-made chips

The article lost all credibility with that sentence. Having worked at Sandia I am 100% sure we already have that tech in place and many years ago.

The US actually manufactures chips? :Q

Your CPU.

Your CPU.

Made in China.

Actually last I checked AMD chips are made in Malaysia, so not sure about Intel.

In other news, Chinese hacker claim they had a hand in the design of the chip and thus have left a backdoor in place.

They are not made in Asia unless you're buying a few generations back. Intel has most of its 45 nm fab labs in New Mexico where they make the CPUs. They do have one fab in Israel. AMD uses their fabs in Dresden, Germany to make their CPUs.

Intel's CPU design teams are based in Oregon though the laptop platform designs were one in Israel. When it comes to state of the art, it still is done pretty much in the US.
