Comments that this is proof of evolution are missing the point. No single data point can prove (or disprove) evolution, the point is that this narrows the gap of the famous "missing link" long used as a counter-argument to the evolutionary link between humans and chimps. If chimps have the ability to make and use tools, perhaps the evolutionary gap is less than we previously thought, making the evolutionary argument more plausible.
