Chimp attack

Well that's strange, I just heard about it on the news, and found the link from news.google.com. oh well, at least the KFSN link works.

Working at the Milwaukee County Zoo in the horticulture department, we go inside the habitats for the gorillas and bonobos in the morning before they are let out from their cages they're kept in overnight. (to water the real plants that are in there)

They warned me several times "bonobos will kill you in a nanosecond"

They told me stories about baby ones ripping fingers off of zoo keepers that were close enough to their cages for the babies to reach through.

Other stories of deaths, maulings...

Also said that gorillas will at least give you a chance first by charging and backing down once or twice before really attacking you.

It made me very cautious to talk to the keepers before going in there and checking in with them when I was done in there....

yeah, you think they'd be all mellow from the constant sex, but noooooooo.... they have to try to kill humans every chance they get.

From what I just heard on a radio show this morning one of the guys face was completely mauled and they they tore off the guys nose. He is undergoing reconstructive surgery today.

I'm actually reminded of Jane Goodall's "demonic ape," Frodo the chimp. Not only has Frodo killed and eaten dozens of other apes, he beat up the cartoonist Gary Larson and killed and partially ate a human baby girl. Even Goodall calls him a bully, and he seems to me to essentially be a sadistic serial killer. She won't go anywhere near him without two bodyguards, since he once beat her nearly to death.
