CHIMEI CT-937A 19" WIDE FLAT PANEL TFT LCD

Strange, never heard of them before.

Looking at their website, they seem to be a large group of companies. Then again so is Walmart, and we all know the quality of their stuff.

I just can't bring myself to buy a LCD from company I've never heard of. Looking at the specs for this one it's not too good: No DVI and uses a 6 bit panel.

The prices are getting lower every week, I know there's a good one lurking around the corner.....

Chi-Mei is huge. They mostly make panels, not monitors, that is why you have not heard about them.

Yep, do a little research. BTW, Walmart is a retailer, not a manufacturer; apples and oranges. Chi-Mei is Taiwan's third largest panel-maker. Which country is the largest producer of LCD panels... anybody? Taiwan? Good job!

If I read this correctly, you're saying quantity = quality?

Sorry I haven't heard of Chimei before, but next time I will completely research a name that I, or I would imagine the vast majority of people here, have never heard of.

Just because one is a manufacturer and one is a retailer, they both supply an end product and are both responsible for and choose the quality of the product they supply. I believe that does make it apples to apples.

If they're such good quality, why is it a 6 bit panel with no DVI? I guess they might be older, but doesn't sound too appealing to me.
